There are some pests that you will start to see more and more as the weather starts to warm up. You will see bees, wasps, hornets, ants and much more. The spring is when everything is out and blooming and pests are out looking for a meal and having their offspring. You need to be aware of what pests you should be aware of and one of the many that you will be seeing are spiders. Spiders are a pest that when out in your garden is a benefit because they will eat other pests that are attacking your plants and garden. Although they are good in some areas they are not welcome guests in your home. You want to make sure that you keep them out of your home because there are some that have a venomous bite that can be hazardous to your health. A-Tex Pest Management outlines what you need to know about controlling spiders around your house.

What Attracts Spiders?

When it comes to pests of all kinds the most common thing that they are hunting for is a meal. Spiders are a pest that eats other pests as the way to get their main meals. Most spiders will build a web and the passing by pests will get trapped. Then they can have a meal or as many as there are around the house. Spiders want to be away from people just as much as you want to be away from them. Spiders are not bad to have around since they are free pest control but they are not welcome in the house.

Black Widow Spiders

When it comes to spiders that are feared, they all are on the list, but perhaps the most well known is the black widow spider. This is the most common and the one that people talk about the most. The interesting thing is that they are not the largest or most menacing but they are distinct in how they look and that is why they are so well known. The black widow spider is a spider that has a shiny black body and can reach about an inch and a half when fully grown. The best way to know that you are looking at a black widow is the red hourglass shape that can be seen on the belly of them. This is a stark contrast from the shiny black body. The other thing you can look at is the web that is being made. Black widows are not looking to win an award for the coolest web. They usually find a low spot and build what some call a messy nest. It does the job and that is all they care about. They do have a venomous bite if you happen to come across one so steer clear is possible.

Brown Recluse Spider

The other spider that is feared most is the brown recluse spider. They are on the scary list because of the toxic venom that they pack in their bite. They have been known to send people to the hospital to get medical treatment from the bite. They are a tan or brown spider that does not have hair but are usually slick. They are only about one inch in length and the mark that sets them apart is a violin in a dark brown color that is found on the back of the spider.
